whole nuts

We are proud that nearly all the protein in our products comes from plant-based protein sources, like whole nuts. In fact, almonds are the lead ingredient in most of KIND’s 100+ products and our purchases represent 1-2% of the world’s almonds. When compared to animal protein, there are many health and environmental benefits that plant proteins offer. However, growing almonds and other plants still have an impact on our planet.

In 2020, we became the first snack company to commit to exclusively source 100 percent of our almonds from bee-friendly farms by 2025. By collaborating directly with farmers, suppliers, retailers and other leading brands, we aim to significantly expand the bee-friendly almond market by providing healthy habitat for pollinators, eliminating key pesticides known to harm pollinators, and investing in critical research. These practices not only help to support pollinator populations, they also promote sustainable crop production and improve soil health.

We also know that almonds are a thirsty crop. The almond farmer community in the United States, led by the Almond Board of California, has successfully reduced the amount of water used to grow a pound of almonds by 33%1 and is committed to further reducing that figure by an additional 20% leading up to 2025.2 Our suppliers are setting a new standard for water conservation through sophisticated irrigation systems and water management technologies used to promote healthy growth and minimal tree stress.
